Hearing loss has been a part of my life from birth or an early age.  I began wearing a hearing aid in one ear in 1973 and in both ears in 1977.  In the spring of 2005 I decided to pursue cochlear implant technology.  At the urging of friends and professional associates I wrote a journal of the experiences that led to successful implantation and adaptation of this marvelous technology.

This is not a typical story of hearing loss.  Such things don't exist.  This is my story.
